As we have mentioned so many times the last few months, our company has undergone quite a few exciting changes. One of the most prominent changes we have undergone has been new members joining our team as some of our older team members retired.
This month I therefore wish to specifically commend all our loyal employees who retired between April 2020 and the end of March 2021.
This month marks Eureka Retirement Village’s 34th year of providing excellent service, if I may be so bold to say so myself. The great service we offer would not have been possible without the passionate staff we have. I would thus like to thank a number of colleagues who have spent a veritable lifetime in service to Utilitas:
This includes our company’s very first employee. She was here when it all started 34 years ago. After all her hard work and dedication, it is hard to believe that she is finally laying down her proverbial pen. Known for both her compassion and her strong will, this Social Worker certainly leaves a legacy behind for the younger team. This is most notable in the company’s policies and procedures where she has been integral to many exciting new changes the last few years.
Our very own Head of Accounts at Eureka, who ran our accounts and admin offices for more than 30 years with an iron fist will be dearly missed. She has more energy than most people half her age and a no-nonsense attitude that inspired those around her.
We also bid farewell to our driver at Eureka for 33 years. He was known to and loved by all and always willing to go the extra mile (or kilometer if you please) for our residents!
Our Matron at Eureka, who is well known for her cheeky slogan that Eureka’s Frail Care is the Best in the Westremains something we strive to achieve on a daily basis at all our retirement villages. We thank her for the 25 years she dedicated to our company.
Our Matron at De Rust for more than 20 years, was known as a caring person that was always willing to help. She always went above and beyond the call of duty for her residents and their family members.
Our Manager at De Rust who ran a very tight ship for more than 20 years. She taught me how to always ask questions and most importantly not to just accept things but challenge the status quo to ensure we provide our residents the best service possible. Her guidance will stay with me for the rest of my career if not life.
Our well-loved maintenance supervisor at Eureka, who worked for more than 25 years. His calm tone was always reassuring, and he often reminded me to take a break as tomorrow is a new day with new challenges.
Each person brought something unique and different to the table and each one of these will truly be missed by our team. They leave legacies that I hope challenge those joining the team to strive towards!
Lastly, I want to close off my newsletter with a word of advice to the retirees:
Don’t retire with regrets of what you couldn’t do, retire with ambitions of what you will do now! The world is your oyster!
